 Healthy kids learn better and smile more! Head Start Health Services will:

Identify potential health concerns

Provide follow-up with community agencies

Offer education about your child's needs

 

During the year and with your permission, your child will receive professional screenings including:

These screenings not only monitor your child's health, but also provide an opportunity to learn about his/ her body!

 

Our new Head Start Health Passport will take your child on a journey around the world with Speedy, the Healthy Turtle. Speedy will track all of your child's screenings and help them learn why the screenings are important.

 

Nutrition Services

Brain food is key! Your Head Start Nutrition Services will:

Plan and prepare nutritious and yummy meals for your children every day of school

bullet

Provide education about nutrition to children and parents

bullet

Send home menus and recipes for you to talk about and make with your children

BE SAFE, BE ACTIVE

Spring Playground Safety

 

There are about 200,000 playground related injuries involving children each year in the United States. Follow these tips to play it safe on the playground!

 

bullet

Never attach ropes, jump ropes, clotheslines, or pet leashes to the equipment

bullet

Make sure children remove their bike or other sports helmets before playing on the playground

bullet

Always supervise young children to make sure they are safe

bullet

Watch for sharp points or edges, open "S" hooks and protruding bolts

 

National Playground Safety Week 2008 is April 21 - 25

 

National Playground Safety Week is a time to focus on children's outdoor play environments, a time to pledge to use good judgment when playing, a time for gratitude for all the adults who work tirelessly on maintaining our playgrounds.
