Home Based Visitor - Head Start

The Head Start Program is currently seeking an educator who will visit homes to help parents utilize and develop their skills so that they may become the prime educators of their child/ children. Write a developmental plan for each family, taking into consideration the individual needs of the family members. Maintain community support and recruit families for home based programs. Requires Associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child and Family Studies or Elementary Education (plus Perk Certification) from two year college or university plus two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation for travel in the York area is essential. Bilingual (Spanish/ English) is helpful. Requires Act 33 clearances prior to employment, a physical exam, TB test and FBI clearances within 30 days of hire date and drivers license clearance report. Pay rate begins at $12.12/ hour, with higher compensation dependant on skills, education, and Head Start experience. 40 hours/ week for 41 weeks/ year. Assistant Teacher - Head Start

The Assistant Teacher aids the classroom teacher in all aspects of the education program, including planning and carrying out the Head Start curriculum while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the children. Must be reliable in attendance and work with diverse individuals. Requires high school diploma or general attendance degree (GED) plus one year of experience in a child development center (pre-school or elementary). Must obtain CDA (Child Development Associate Certificate) within 2 years of hire as required by federal mandate. Requires Act 33 clearances prior to employment, a physical exam, TB test and FBI clearances within 30 days of hire date. Pay rate begins at $10.01/ hour, with higher compensation dependant on skills, education, and Head Start experience. 35 hours/ week for 41 weeks/ year.

 

Teacher - Early Head Start

This is a new ARRA grant funded position funded through September 2011.

Supervise an Early Head Start classroom, plan and implement a nurturing and responsive, developmentally appropriate program for infants and toddlers. Must maintain accurate records. Must work well with diverse individuals and families. Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are helpful. Prefer B.A. in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies plus one year related work experience with pregnant women, infants and toddlers. May consider Associate's degree (A.A.) in the same fields with two years related experience. Pay range begins at $12.12/ hour, depending upon level of education and experience; 40 hours/ week, 50 weeks/ year. Requires reliable transportation.

 

Instructional Support Specialist - Early Head Start

This is a new ARRA grant funded position funded through September 2011.

Assists in the prevention of non-discriminatory Early Head Start services by providing support to children and their families with documented and suspected special needs. Must maintain accurate records. Must work well with diverse individuals and families. Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are helpful. Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent in Child Development, Family Relations, Human Development, Special Education, or a related field; two years related experience and experience with infants through age 5 and/ or training combination of education and experience. Pay range begins at $11.01/ hour, depending upon level of education and experience; 15 hours/ week, 50 weeks/ year. Requires reliable transportation.

 

Family Development Assistant - Early Head Start

This is a new ARRA grant funded position funded through September 2011.

Assist with weekly home visits and provide transportation for bi-weekly socializations and social service appointments for pregnant women, parents and their infant or toddler. Must maintain accurate records. Must work well with diverse individuals and families. Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are helpful. High school diploma or GED plus one year of experience working with adults and/or young children in a formal setting, Associate's degree (A.A.) in Early Childhood, Child and Family Studies or Human Development, plus experience working with adults and/or young children. Pay range begins at $10.01/ hour, depending upon level of education and experience; 40 hours/ week, 50 weeks/ year.

 

Assistant Teacher - Early Head Start

Individual responsible to assist in nurturing and responsive environment for infants and toddlers. Must be reliable in attendance and work with diverse individuals. Requires HS diploma or GED, related work experience, physical exam and Act 33 and Act 73 clearances. Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are helpful. 30 hours/ week for 50 weeks/ year. Pay range starts at $10.32/ hour depending upon level of education and experience.

 

Family Development Specialist - Early Head Start

This is a new ARRA grant funded position funded through September 2011.

Conduct weekly home visits to parents and their infant or toddler. Develop family and child goals, monitor progress, and link families to appropriate resources. Must maintain accurate records. Must work well with diverse individuals and families. Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are helpful. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Early Childhood, Child and Family Studies or Human Development, RN, LPN, Certified Home Health Aide, plus one year related work experience with pregnant women, infants, and toddlers; may consider Associate's degree (A.A.) in the same fields, plus two years experience in related field. Pay range begins at $12.12/ hour, depending upon level of education and experience; 40 hours/ week, 50 weeks/ year.

 

Floating Assistant Teacher - Early Head Start

This is a new ARRA grant funded position funded through September 2011.

Assist in providing a safe, nurturing, and responsive environment for infants and toddlers. Must work well with diverse individuals and families. Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are helpful. Requires HS diploma or GED, related work experience. Pay range begins at $10.32/ hour, depending upon level of education and experience; 30 hours/ week, 50 weeks/ year.

 

Family Advocate - Early Head Start

This is a new ARRA grant funded position funded through September 2011.

Engage with pregnant women and Early Head Start children and their families to identify quality of life and developmental concerns, develop effective solutions, and link clients to appropriate resources. Must maintain accurate records. Must work well with diverse individuals and families. Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills are helpful. Prefer Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Social Services or a related field, plus one year of related experience is preferred; OR at least 60 credits in a social service or related program of study, plus two years of related experience, OR a minimum of a HS diploma/ GED and 15 college credits in social service, family/ child development, or related courses, plus three years experience working in a Child Development Center or a similar position. Pay range begins at $12.12/ hour, depending upon level of education and experience; 40 hours/ week, 50 weeks/ year.

 

Head Start/ Early Head Start Applicants

Applicants for the above position(s) should submit the following information to the HR Department.

FBI Background Check Multiple-Step Process:

  1. The applicant must register prior to going to the fingerprint site. Walk in service without prior registration will not be provided at any fingerprinting location. Registration is completed online or over the phone. Registration is available online 24 hours/day, seven days/week at http://www.pa.cogentid.com. Telephonic registration is available at 1-888-439-2486 Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm EST. During the registration process, all demographic data for the applicant is collected (name, address, SSN, etc.) so there is no data entry required at the fingerprint collection site.

  2. The applicant will pay a fee of $36.00 for the fingerprint service and to secure the Criminal History Record. Applicants may make their payment online at http://www.pa.cogentid.com using a credit card or debit card. Money orders or cashier's checks payable to the Cogent Systems will be accepted on site for those applicants who do not have the means to pay electronically. No cash transactions or personal checks are allowed.

  3. The applicant proceeds to the fingerprint site of their choice for fingerprinting. The location of the fingerprint sites and days and hours of operation for each site will be posted on Cogent Systems' website at http://www.pa.cogentid.com. The locations of the fingerprint sites may change over time so applicants are encouraged to confirm the site location.

  4. At the fingerprint site the Applicant Livescan Operators (ALO) manage the fingerprint collection process.

  5. The fingerprint transaction begins when the ALO reviews the applicant's qualified State or Federal photo ID before processing the applicant's transaction. A list of approved ID types may be found on the Cogent Systems' website at http://www.pa.cogentid.com. Applicants will not be processed if they cannot produce an acceptable photo ID.

  6. After the identity of the applicant has been established, all ten fingers are scanned to complete the process. The entire fingerprint capture process should take no more than three to five minutes. Applicants will be provided with a Cogent Systems registration ID number. This number MUST be provided to the human resources department at CPC.

  7. The applicant's scanned fingerprints will be electronically transmitted to the Pennsylvania State Police, who in turn submit the fingerprints and demographic information to the FBI as required by federal statute.

  8. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) will receive the Federal Criminal History Record from the FBI. Applicants will need to submit their Cogent Systems registration ID number to human resources.

  9. A paper copy of the results will be mailed to your home address. Results must be submitted to the human resources department at CPC.
