     Home Based

       Program

The aim of our Home Based Program is to help the parents develop their children’s skills in all areas. Since parents are the primary educators of their young children, it is important to encourage what parents do.

The purpose of the Home based visit is to assist parents in fostering growth and development by providing a lesson for the child and by teaching the parent how to use that lesson and other activities to enhance specific skills. All Head Start services are delivered to the parent and child at home, including education, health, and social services.

Group socialization activities are held twice a month and focuses on the parents and children as a group. The emphasis for children is interaction with other children their own age through age appropriate activities in a Head Start classroom, community facility, or on a field trip. The children are with a Home Visitor and parents have the opportunity to observe and to participate. Through group experiences, the children will learn to share, take turns, respect other’s feelings, and deal with conflict.
